Happy Birthday x3

Broderick turned 3 on September 20th. I can not believe its been 3 years since he came into our lives. We have been so blessed with him as our son. He is such a funny little guy who has loved to smile since he's been born. He is always making us laugh and suprising us with the things he learns. We have been so proud of him since we've moved here. He has been so brave and strong with all the new things he has encountered.

I was feeling guilty that we would be in the states for his birthday, away from his daddy, and wouldn't be able to give him a party. But he really scored .... instead of 1 party, he got 3. We had a little celebration in Denmark before we left. That way Brad would be able to celebrate with him.

CELEBRATION #1

He was lucky enough to have Grandpa Ron and Grandma Jane here to celebrate with him.
We gave him presents here so we wouldn't have to transport them on the airplane to get back to Denmark.
Jorgen and Kirstine came over too and gave Broderick a little Danish songbook. He loves to sing songs and knows a few in Danish. This will help me sing them with him .... if only I could pronounce the words. =)
This is Broderick blowing out the candles on the traditional Danish cake : Kagemand which literally means "cakeman". Its shaped like a gingerbread man and tastes like a cinnamon roll. It is tradition that before you eat the cake someone cuts the kagemand's head off while everyone screams. This means that he is really dead and he is ok to eat. Brad cut with such enthusiasm that he cut through the cake, the cardboard underneath, and also my coffee table!!!! Then it was my turn to scream!

CELEBRATION #2

The first weekend we got to the states was his actual birthday. My mom had the whole family over to celebrate with him.
His face was priceless when everyone started to sing to him, he LOVED it.
He had fun with ALL his cousins. (He just has a few.)

CELEBRATION #3

When we were in Iowa, we also celebrated with his Schmidgall cousins and Brad was also back for this party.
Jared's birthday and Broderick's birthday are only a few days apart, so we celebrated their birthdays together.
He LOVES it when people sing to him.
Sam, Gabe, and Naomi helping Broderick with his gifts.
So needless to say, I think Broderick had a great 3rd birthday. How many parties does a kid need? Thanks to our families for making his day(s) special!
